Farm-harvested California redwood has become the most desirable softwood for outdoor use. Why? Redwood is superior in durability, beauty, strength and resistance to the elements. Redwood does not contain harmful chemicals that may be damaging to your child's health. Backyard Adventures only uses redwood from suppliers that participate in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Programs (SFI).
Structure and Integrity
The heart wood of the redwood tree is naturally resistant to insects and decay. Its tight, thin cell structure is unique to the redwood tree; therefore, moisture absorbs at a much lower rate than other woods, reducing the effects of decay.
Fire Resistant
In a series of fire performance tests conducted on 12 commercial decking materials, California redwood ranked number one in flame resistance, and has historically been used in fire walls and fire doors. These recent tests confirm redwood's superiority.
